How can we help 6 billion people help each other help themselves?
After 30 years designing large scale hospital information systems, Tom Munnecke quit his job as a vice president and chief scientist at a Fortune
500 company to ask himself, "What is the simplest thing I can do which will have the greatest benefit for
humanity?" This lead to the formation of GivingSpace as a think tank to explore innovative
ways of using technology in humanitarian activities, which has
evolved into the Uplift Academy.
Tom was a 2003 fellow at Stanford's
Digital Visions Program, and is particularly interested in Getting
Small in a Big Way - what happens when we figure out ways of
large scale interaction in small increments. He is also interested in
the way our language shapes our understanding,
part of Positive Discourse, is active with the Micro Philanthropy
Experiment, and is a prolific web blogger.
You can download notes from Tom's presentation entitled "How can we help 6 billion people help
each other help themselves?"
